Lume — Wood-fire kitchen & wine bar in Portland
Welcome to Lume
A neighbourhood room built around one wood fire
where handmade pasta
hearth-roasted plates and natural wine
are served until late.
We opened in an old print works with a simple idea: cook what the farms bring us that week, over fire, and pour wine made by people we know. The menu changes with the season; the welcome doesn't.

Our kitchen
Fire, flour and a few good farms.
There's no gas line to our grill. Every plate that comes off the hearth is cooked over almond wood and oak, burned down to embers that hold a steady, even heat.
Mornings belong to the pasta room, where flour from a single Oregon mill becomes six shapes by hand. Vegetables arrive from three farms we've worked with since day one.
“Fire doesn't forgive shortcuts. It makes you cook with your full attention.”

The room
Low light, long tables and no rush to leave.
Exposed brick, a fire you can see from every seat, and a playlist that gets a little louder after nine.

Guest notes
Said at the table, after dessert.
We came for the pappardelle and stayed for three more plates. The kind of room where you forget to check the time.
Sample guest · Dinner for two They planned my mother's seventieth in the Cellar Room down to the last candle. Every course felt like it was cooked just for us.
Sample guest · Private dining, 16 guests Sit at the hearth table if you can. Watching the ribeye come off the embers is half the fun.
